I just had a friend pay $35 to renew his domain for a year at register.com

Domain renewals at godaddy are under 11 dollars. How can register.com charge people that much?

I called them and asked why it cost so much and they told me it was because they offer more with the domain and if I wanted just a domain name that I should use another registrar.
